Outbreeding Depression
A reduction in reproductive fitness due to crossing of two populations (or sub-species, or species). Crossing of genetically differentiated populations of higher taxa creates the risk that hybrid offspring in the first and subsequent generations will suffer reduced reproductive fitness.
